Man Charged After Woman Reports Unauthorized Storage Unit and Debit Card Charges
MOSCOW MILLS, Mo. — A woman checking on her storage account found a second unit she said she had never rented. Her debit card had been billed for it for months, and she told deputies the belongings inside belonged to a man she had removed from the account.
Joshua Caleb Stevens had previously had access to the woman’s account at Area 61 Storage. She told deputies she removed him in December 2025 following a domestic incident, later changed her payment information and access code, and asked the facility not to allow him access.
A new unit was reserved under her account in April. Stevens now faces two misdemeanor charges connected to the storage payments. He is not currently in custody.

Charges
Fraudulent use of a credit or debit device — Class A misdemeanor
Stealing — Class A misdemeanor
Records reviewed during the investigation showed the new unit was reserved April 18 with a $53 cash payment made in person. Charges for the unit then appeared on the woman’s debit card beginning in May. She reported $367.17 in storage charges through July.
The woman discovered the unit on July 15 while speaking with storage facility staff about her account. She opened it and identified the belongings inside as Stevens’.

Deputies obtained location-monitoring records that placed Stevens at the storage facility for about 50 minutes on June 30. The woman had also reported that he accessed the unit that day.
Court records show a full order of protection against Stevens was in effect. He is not charged with violating that order in this case.

A Lincoln County judge issued a warrant on Sept. 17 with a $500 cash-only bond and a condition barring contact with the woman. The warrant was served Sept. 22. Missouri Case.net showed no scheduled hearing in the case as of Sept. 24.
