Silex, Mo. — A woman suffered a broken jaw, loose teeth, strangulation injuries, and severe facial trauma during a violent domestic assault inside a Lincoln County home while children reportedly screamed, “Get off my mommy,” according to newly filed charges.
Cole Daniels, O’Fallon, Missouri

Charges:
• Domestic Assault 2nd Degree
• Endangering the Welfare of a Child 1st Degree (2 counts)
• Driving While Intoxicated
The incident unfolded during the early morning hours of May 9, 2026, after deputies were dispatched to a residence in Silex for a reported domestic assault.
Before deputies arrived, authorities were advised the suspect had allegedly left the area intoxicated in a black Ford pickup truck headed toward Highway 61.
A short time later, law enforcement located the vehicle near Highway 61 and Highway C in the Moscow Mills area and conducted a traffic stop.
Deputies noted Daniels had visible injuries to his face and hands and showed signs of intoxication. Authorities stated Daniels admitted to drinking earlier in the evening before later refusing both roadside sobriety testing and a chemical breath test after being taken into custody.

While Daniels was being detained, EMS crews were treating the victim at the scene before she was transported to the hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Authorities described the woman as suffering from severe facial injuries, bleeding from the mouth, swelling to the jaw and lips, loose teeth, bruising across her body, scratches, and visible neck injuries consistent with strangulation.
Medical staff later determined the left side of her jaw was broken and that she required stitches for an additional facial injury.
According to the investigation, the incident began after Daniels and the victim became involved in an argument inside the home while two children were present.
The woman stated Daniels shoved her against a wall before grabbing her hoodie and pinning her between himself and the wall. She later described being chased into another room, slammed to the ground, and choked with both hands around her neck until she began blacking out.
The victim stated Daniels told her, “You think you’re a tough man? You’re going to get hit like a man,” before repeatedly punching her in the face.
One neighbor reportedly told deputies they heard yelling from inside the residence along with children screaming, “Get off my mommy,” before 911 was called.
Two juvenile children inside the home also reportedly witnessed portions of the assault and attempted to intervene.
One witness later contacted Lincoln CountyWatch expressing frustration with the overall response to the situation, stating this was reportedly the second law enforcement response involving the residence within just a matter of hours that night. The witness believed the situation may have been preventable if earlier concerns had been handled differently.
However, the witness specifically praised Deputy Tabitha Peebles for her handling of the investigation and response once she arrived on scene.
Daniels was transported to the Lincoln County Jail following the investigation.
As with all criminal cases, charges are merely accusations and Daniels is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
