Argument Turns Violent as Woman Is Dragged, Kicked and Stomped in Lincoln County

LINCOLN COUNTY, Mo. — A woman was dragged into a hallway, kicked in the face and repeatedly struck during an Aug. 17 assault inside a Lincoln County residence, with a witness describing seeing one of the attackers stomp on her head before he tried to step in and stop the beating.

Mark Hipes, of Foristell, denied taking part in the assault, but both the woman and a witness identified him as one of two people involved. Hipes is now in custody on a felony domestic assault charge.

Mark Hipes is in custody on a $2,500 cash-only bond set by Judge Michael R. Jacobs. His next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 27.

Charges:

  • Domestic Assault — Third Degree — Class E felony

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to the residence Aug. 17, where the woman was waiting outside when a deputy arrived.

She identified Hipes and another person as her attackers and reported being hit and kicked multiple times during the altercation, including being kicked in the face by Hipes.

Hipes denied participating. He said he had been asleep before waking to an argument and maintained that he had not witnessed an assault or kicked anyone. He also said the woman believed he was romantically involved with the other person and claimed that was why she was accusing him.

A witness inside the residence gave deputies a much different account.

He described seeing the woman being attacked by both people before she was dragged into a hallway. Hipes then came out of a bedroom and stomped on her head “very hard” as the assault continued.

The witness eventually intervened in an attempt to stop the attack and was assaulted himself. He declined to pursue charges for what happened to him.

Hipes was charged with third-degree domestic assault, a Class E felony.

Judge Michael R. Jacobs set bond at $2,500 cash only and ordered Hipes to have no contact with the victim.

Hipes remains in custody and is scheduled to return to court Aug. 27 for a bond review hearing before Jacobs.

The case remains pending in Lincoln County Circuit Court.
