The Elsberry Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance as officers continue investigating multiple burglary cases within the city.

According to an official department release, officers arrested Jesse Simmons on Thursday, December 11, after identifying him as a person of interest in an ongoing burglary investigation. During the investigation, police also confirmed Simmons had an active felony no-bond warrant issued by Missouri Probation and Parole for a revocation, with full nationwide extradition authorized.

Later that evening, officers located Simmons in the parking lot of Casey’s General Store, where he was taken into custody without incident. He was subsequently booked into the Lincoln County Jail on a charge of Burglary in the Second Degree, along with the outstanding felony warrant.

Police stated that applications for additional warrants related to the investigation have been submitted to the Lincoln County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

The Elsberry Police Department said officers continue to review burglary cases dating back to early 2024, as part of an ongoing effort to identify suspects and resolve previously reported incidents.

Investigators are currently seeking information related to burglaries reported in the 100 block of Welch Drive and the 100 block of North 5th Street. Residents who may have information, surveillance footage, or details about suspicious activity in those areas are encouraged to contact the Elsberry Police Department at 636-528-6100, ext. 1, or submit a message through the department’s official page.
