WARREN COUNTY, Mo. — An alleged attack with pepper spray and a collapsible police baton left a woman injured and needing treatment from EMS. More than a month later, a traffic stop led to an alleged admission from the accused attacker.

Jennifer Rose Brooks, 22, of Wright City, faces felony assault and armed criminal action charges stemming from the July 25 encounter.

The woman reported that Brooks and Brooks’ boyfriend attacked her at the same time. Brooks later allegedly acknowledged using the spray and baton, saying she acted because the woman had previously assaulted her mother.

CHARGES

  • Assault in the second degree — Class D felony

  • Armed criminal action — Unclassified felony

The July encounter left the woman with a cut to a finger on her left hand, severe swelling and bruising on her right upper arm, and numerous scratches and red marks.

She identified Brooks as the person who used pepper spray and a silver collapsible police baton against her. A sheriff’s deputy described the arm injuries as consistent with being struck by a hard object such as a baton.

EMS treated the woman. Later that evening, her boyfriend spoke with Deputy David Brown and confirmed Brooks’ identity.

The next documented encounter with Brooks came shortly after midnight Sept. 2, when Wright City police stopped her near Horseshoe Court and Rolker Road.

Brown responded to the stop, advised Brooks of her Miranda rights and spoke with her after she agreed to answer questions.

During that conversation, Brooks allegedly admitted attacking the woman with pepper spray and a collapsible baton. She told the deputy the attack followed an earlier assault on her mother—an allegation the supplied court documents do not independently establish.

A Sept. 30 arrest warrant lists both felony charges. The case remains pending.
