Troy Man Faces Multiple Charges After Domestic Incident Involving Child

LINCOLN COUNTY, MO — A Troy man is facing multiple domestic-related charges following an incident earlier this month that authorities say involved an extended physical altercation inside a residence while a child was present.

Charges:

  • Domestic Assault, 2nd Degree (Felony)

  • Domestic Assault, 4th Degree (Misdemeanor)

  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child, 2nd Degree (Misdemeanor)

According to the charging documents, the incident occurred on Friday, January 17, 2026, at a residence in Troy, when officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance.


Investigators allege the confrontation began while the individuals were inside the home and escalated into repeated physical violence. Authorities say the victim reported being struck multiple times, pushed to the ground, and at one point placed in a chokehold. Officers documented visible redness and injuries consistent with the account provided.


During the incident, Wells is accused of placing his hands around the victim’s neck and continuing the assault despite attempts to separate. A witness present inside the residence reported observing portions of the altercation and confirmed seeing physical contact occur.


Charging documents state that a juvenile was present during the incident, leading to an additional charge related to endangering the welfare of a child.

Wells was taken into custody following the investigation where he remains in custody at time of publishing.


He is scheduled to appear for a counsel status hearing on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. in Lincoln County Associate Division III. The hearing will be held at the Lincoln County Courthouse in Troy.


This case remains pending in Lincoln County Circuit Court.
