A citizen-requested state audit gave the City of Elsberry a "Fair" rating and identified concerns involving police evidence tracking, utility billing, finances, and transparency.

Several firearms stolen from vehicles across Elsberry have been recovered after police identified two suspects and filed multiple felony charges. Both men remain in custody at the Lincoln County Jail.
