Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Winfield Crash; Driver Jailed on Felony DWI Charge
WINFIELD, Mo. — The crash that closed Highway 47 at Allison Lane last Wednesday has become a felony DWI case against the driver accused of turning into a motorcyclist’s path.
The rider, a 47-year-old Winfield man, was thrown from his motorcycle and seriously injured. As paramedics treated him, a Highway Patrol trooper began questioning the driver beside her Chevrolet Impala.
Robin Engelmeyer, Troy, Mo

CHARGES
Driving while intoxicated resulting in serious physical injury to another person — Class C felony
Operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner involving an accident — Class A misdemeanor
The collision happened at approximately 7:10 p.m. Oct. 21. Engelmeyer was eastbound on Highway 47, approaching a westbound Kawasaki Ninja.
She is accused of failing to yield while making a left turn. The motorcycle struck the rear passenger side of her car, ejecting its rider.
Lincoln County Ambulance District transported him to Mercy Hospital St. Louis. Both directions of the highway closed while crews worked the scene, prompting Lincoln CountyWatch’s initial traffic alert.
Engelmeyer identified herself as the Chevrolet’s driver but denied drinking alcohol or taking medication. She also said she had not hit the motorcycle.
The trooper’s observations told a different story about possible impairment: a strong odor of alcohol, thick and slurred speech, and bloodshot, watery eyes.
Sobriety testing followed inside the patrol vehicle and outside. During the walk-and-turn test, Engelmeyer began before instructions were finished, missed heel-to-toe steps and made an improper turn. She also put her foot down during the one-leg-stand test and did not maintain the instructed stance.
She refused a preliminary breath test and was arrested.
After she declined a requested blood sample, Judge Rebecca Richardson authorized a search warrant. A sample was obtained at Mercy Hospital Lincoln before Engelmeyer was taken to the sheriff’s office.
The available records do not include the blood-test results.
An arrest warrant signed Oct. 22 requires SCRAM alcohol monitoring with real-time monitoring before any release. It also prohibits mind- or mood-altering substances.
The motorcycle sustained extensive damage, while the Impala had minor damage. Both were towed.
No further information about the rider’s recovery was available for this report. No hearing was listed in the court information reviewed for case No. 26L6-CR00676.
