TROY, Mo. — UPDATE — 11:27 p.m.: This article has been updated to include information provided by Troy Police Department Interim Chief Bob Ronkoski regarding the law enforcement activity on Shingle Oak Court.
An early-morning death investigation and a large law enforcement response later Friday evening brought authorities to nearby streets within the same Troy neighborhood.
The Lincoln County Coroner’s Office confirmed Friday that it is investigating the death of Joshua Nations, 41, of Troy, whose body was discovered at a residence in the 2400 block of Oak Forest Drive during the early-morning hours.
The Coroner’s Office was notified at approximately 2:10 a.m. and responded to conduct the death investigation. Nations was positively identified, and his next of kin was notified before his identity was released.
The investigation is being conducted in coordination with the Troy Police Department. The cause and manner of death remain under investigation pending toxicology testing and a review of medical history and other investigative findings.
Based on information available Friday, officials reported no indication of a threat to the public. Because the investigation remains active, additional information is not expected to be released until the investigation is completed or circumstances warrant an update.
Later Friday evening, Lincoln CountyWatch received multiple community tips regarding a large law enforcement presence in the area.
Witnesses reported seeing multiple law enforcement units in the neighborhood throughout the day, with some saying officers had been in the area since approximately 5 a.m.
Lincoln CountyWatch responded to Shingle Oak Court and observed numerous law enforcement officers gathered near a residence. Officers were seen forming a line outside the home before making entry.
At least one woman was observed being detained during the response. Lincoln CountyWatch also received reports that additional individuals may have been detained; however, the total number of people involved and their status have not been independently confirmed.
Troy Police Department Interim Chief Bob Ronkoski later confirmed the law enforcement activity is part of an ongoing investigation that began as a domestic disturbance.
Ronkoski said there is no threat to the public and additional information will be available following the conclusion of the investigation and warrant application.
The death investigation on Oak Forest Drive and the later law enforcement activity on Shingle Oak Court occurred within the same general neighborhood. Authorities have not released information confirming whether the events are connected.
The circumstances surrounding the activity on Shingle Oak Court remain unclear as the situation continues to develop.
Lincoln CountyWatch will provide additional information as verified details become available.
