Troy School District Bus Rolls Over During Afternoon Crash on Highway V

TROY, Mo. — A Troy School District school bus was involved in a single-vehicle motor vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on Highway V, prompting a response from multiple emergency agencies and a temporary roadway shutdown in the area.


Lincoln CountyWatch first received reports shortly after the crash from community members who observed emergency crews responding near Highway V and Whippoorwill Trail. Lincoln CountyWatch responded to the scene and confirmed details with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office as the situation developed.


According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to a crash involving a Troy School District bus that rolled over. The crash occurred during the afternoon hours. At the time of the incident, three students were on the bus along with a staff member.


Officials confirmed that one adult staff member was transported by ambulance for medical evaluation. No students were transported by ambulance, and no life-threatening injuries were reported.


Emergency crews worked to secure the scene and safely remove all occupants from the bus. There was no entrapment reported. A wrecker was later brought in and began recovery operations once the scene was stabilized and the roadway was cleared for responders to work safely.


Parents later commented publicly that students involved sustained bumps and bruises but were otherwise expected to be okay. Several families expressed gratitude for the quick response by first responders and for the assistance provided at the scene.


The Lincoln County R-III School District confirmed that families of the students involved were contacted and notified. District officials stated there would be no impact to transportation schedules the following morning and reiterated that the safety and well-being of students and staff remain their top priority.


The crash remains under investigation by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. No additional details regarding the cause of the crash have been released at this time.
