Two Wanted Felons at Center of Moscow Mills Search Now Face Drug Trafficking Charges

MOSCOW MILLS, Mo. — When U.S. Marshals arrived at a home on E. Port Au Prince Lane in April, they were looking for two people wanted on felony warrants. The arrests led authorities to fentanyl, methamphetamine and firearms inside the residence — and eventually to a third man facing felony charges.
Now, the two people authorities originally came to arrest have cases of their own.
Chad Andrew Aubuchon and Jayne Barbara Barnes, both of Lake Saint Louis, are each charged with second-degree drug trafficking and possession of a controlled substance in Lincoln County.
Their cases complete another piece of an investigation Lincoln CountyWatch reported on last week involving Trent M. Canady, who was also inside the Moscow Mills residence when authorities arrived April 17. Canady was not one of the two people U.S. Marshals had gone there to arrest.

The investigation began April 17 at 1074 E. Port Au Prince Lane in Moscow Mills. U.S. Marshals Service personnel went to the residence to arrest Aubuchon and Barnes on outstanding felony warrants.
While personnel were inside gathering belongings for the pair, multicolored capsules suspected of containing fentanyl were observed in plain view. The discovery turned what had begun as an operation to arrest two wanted people into a larger drug investigation.
Consent was obtained from the renter to search the residence. Aubuchon and Barnes had been temporarily staying together in a front bedroom while authorities said they were attempting to avoid arrest on their outstanding warrants.
Inside that bedroom, investigators found numerous multicolored capsules near and around the bed along with a clear bag containing a white crystalline substance. Laboratory testing later confirmed the substances as fentanyl and methamphetamine.
But the search did not stop with the bedroom used by Aubuchon and Barnes.
Those discoveries led to the case Lincoln CountyWatch reported last week. Canady was charged with second-degree drug trafficking, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon for possessing a firearm and a felony controlled substance. His bond was set at $35,000 cash only, and he was taken into custody.
The investigation has now come back to where it started.
Separate cases have been filed against Aubuchon and Barnes based on the fentanyl and methamphetamine recovered from the bedroom where the pair had been staying.
If released, both are prohibited from having contact with victims or co-defendants and from using mind- or mood-altering substances. Both must also enroll in RISE UP controlled-substance monitoring within 24 hours of release. Aubuchon’s warrant additionally requires GPS monitoring with real-time tracking before release.
All three defendants now face felony charges stemming from the same April 17 search of the Moscow Mills residence — Aubuchon and Barnes, the two people U.S. Marshals originally went there to arrest, and Canady, the third person authorities encountered after the operation expanded into a search of the home.
The cases remain pending in Lincoln County Circuit Court.
