Voting Starts Tuesday: What Lincoln County Voters Need to Know Before November 3

LINCOLN COUNTY, Mo. — Lincoln County voters hoping to avoid Election Day lines, traffic and construction delays can begin casting no-excuse absentee ballots Tuesday, Oct. 20.

Often called “early voting,” the two-week period allows any registered Lincoln County voter to cast a ballot in person without providing a reason for voting before Election Day.

Voting will be available at the old Lincoln County Courthouse, located at 201 Main Street in Troy, through 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2.

EARLY VOTING HOURS

  • Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Wednesdays: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  • Saturdays: 8 a.m. to noon

  • Final day: Monday, Nov. 2, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The expanded schedule includes evening hours on Wednesdays and Saturday morning voting for residents unable to visit the courthouse during the regular workweek.

Mike Kreuger, Lincoln County’s election supervisor, is encouraging voters to plan ahead this year as several road construction projects continue throughout the county and one polling location remains closed for remodeling.

Those changes could affect how long it takes some voters to reach their assigned polling places on Election Day.

Election notice postcards were mailed last week to every household in Lincoln County. Each postcard includes a QR code connecting that household directly to its sample ballot and additional information explaining where and how to vote.

Residents should review the postcard before heading to the polls, particularly if they are uncertain whether their regular polling location has changed.

Voters who did not receive a postcard, misplaced it or need additional information can visit www.lincolncomo.gov/elections, follow the Lincoln County Clerk & Election Authority Facebook page or call the elections office at (636) 462-8090.

Missouri’s no-excuse absentee period begins on the second Tuesday before an election and continues through the day before the election. Unlike traditional absentee voting, voters using this period do not need to provide a reason for casting their ballot early.

Voters choosing to wait until Election Day can cast their ballots from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3.

With construction underway and a polling location unavailable during this election, county election officials are asking residents not to wait until the last minute to confirm where they vote.

Whether voting early or on Election Day, residents can use the county’s elections website to review sample ballots, polling-place information and other requirements before leaving home.
