CHARGES

  • Domestic assault, fourth degree — Class A misdemeanor

The encounter began with an argument at a Troy residence shortly before 8:40 p.m. on October 8.

The victim told officers she was sitting on a couch when Kaiman told her to leave. When she refused, the argument escalated. She said Kaiman grabbed her by the back of the neck and pushed her to the floor.

She contacted emergency services following the encounter.

Officers arrived to find Kaiman sitting in the bed of a pickup truck in the driveway. Inside the home, an officer observed red marks on the back of the woman’s neck.

Kaiman acknowledged that an argument had taken place and said he wanted her to move, but she refused.

He admitted grabbing her and pushing her to the floor. However, he said he did not mean to grab her by the back of the neck.

The victim provided a written statement, and officers photographed the marks on her neck. Body-camera footage from the response was also preserved as evidence.

She said the two had argued previously and described Kaiman as verbally abusive, but said this was the first time he had physically put his hands on her.

An arrest warrant was issued the following day, charging Kaiman with fourth-degree domestic assault, a Class A misdemeanor.

Judge James D. Beck authorized a $2,500 bond with 10% permitted. Kaiman was also ordered to have no contact with the victim, refrain from using mind- or mood-altering substances and submit to SCRAM monitoring.

Kaiman was taken into custody but has since been released. Available information does not identify the manner of his release.

The charge is an allegation. Kaiman is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
