Charges

  • Domestic Assault, 2nd Degree (Felony)

  • Domestic Assault, 4th Degree (Misdemeanor)

Turpin is currently being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond. The court determined that non-monetary conditions were not sufficient to ensure the safety of the community.

Officers with the Winfield Police Department were dispatched to a residence on February 2 after Lincoln County Emergency Services received multiple 911 calls from the location, including a call in which a female could be heard yelling in the background before the line disconnected.

When officers arrived, they knocked and announced their presence but initially received no response. While knocking, officers reported hearing yelling and the sound of items being broken inside the residence. A short time later, the front door opened and officers observed a female crying uncontrollably. She reported that Turpin had broken items inside the home and attempted to strangle her.

Officers also heard a male yelling from the basement area of the residence. Turpin was identified and ordered upstairs, where officers separated both parties to secure the scene.

During the investigation, officers documented multiple signs of physical injury consistent with a violent assault. Injuries included visible trauma to the face, chest, and upper body, along with symptoms associated with strangulation. Officers also documented that the victim lost control of bodily functions during the assault — a response investigators noted as consistent with extreme physical trauma and restricted breathing.

Investigators further documented that Turpin took the victim’s phone and threw it through a wall, preventing her from calling for help as the assault continued.

Officers observed extensive damage inside the residence, including broken household items, damage to walls and door frames, and other signs of a prolonged physical struggle. Based on the totality of evidence observed at the scene, officers identified Turpin as the primary aggressor.

Turpin was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Lincoln County Jail for booking. Firearms located inside the residence were seized for safekeeping during the investigation.

All charges are allegations. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
