Cano was taken into custody on Thursday, January 29, and booked into the Lincoln County Jail, where he remains in custody. A judge later set a $10,000 cash-only bond. Court-ordered conditions include no contact with the victim.

The incident occurred Thursday morning, January 29, at approximately 9:26 a.m., when officers with the Troy Police Department responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a residence in the 1000 block of Forsythe Circle.

Officers made contact with the victim, who reported that a verbal argument escalated into repeated physical contact inside the residence. The victim stated they were grabbed underneath the arms near the armpits and chest area before being pushed and pulled during the altercation.

According to the report, the victim was forced to the ground and later struck their head on a door frame, causing pain. The victim also reported being struck in the face with an open hand.

At one point during the incident, the victim attempted to leave the residence with a child. Officers noted that Cano stood in front of the door, blocking the exit. The victim then opened a window and screamed for help before Cano opened the door, allowing the victim and child to leave the residence and enter a vehicle safely.

Officers documented visible injuries to the left side of the victim’s face, left arm, and chest area that were consistent with the reported physical altercation.

Records also show Cano has active warrants out of Springfield and Greene County related to failure to appear, driving while intoxicated, expired plates, careless driving, failure to register a vehicle, and no insurance. Officers indicated those factors contributed to concerns that Cano could be a flight risk.

All charges are allegations. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
