Silex, Mo — A tied election race in Silex has now been resolved after one candidate stepped away, avoiding the need for a runoff or tie-breaking process.
Certified results from Lincoln County showed a tie between Janet Baker and Bob Zeh, with each receiving 11 votes in the race.
According to Lincoln County Clerk Mike Kreuger, tied races can be resolved either by both candidates agreeing to a random drawing method — such as a coin toss — or by moving forward with a runoff election.
However, the situation changed shortly after results were finalized.
Lincoln CountyWatch reached out to Bob Zeh, who confirmed he would be stepping away from the race. Zeh shared that a recent addition to his family will require his full attention moving forward, stating that his focus will be on his faith and family.
When asked directly, Zeh confirmed he is withdrawing.
Janet Baker later confirmed to Lincoln CountyWatch that Zeh has conceded the race, stating that no coin toss or runoff election will be necessary.
With that, the race is now considered resolved, with Baker set to take the position.
Lincoln CountyWatch has reached out to Baker for any additional statement she may wish to share with residents as the community moves forward.
