YMCA Programs Set to Launch in Lincoln County, Long-Term Facility Still in Discussion

LINCOLN COUNTY, MO — After years of work behind the scenes, YMCA programs are officially coming to Lincoln County — with youth services set to begin in 2026 and discussions continuing around a future facility.
Local leaders and the Gateway Region YMCA announced a partnership that will bring day camps and childcare services to the area, targeting one of the county’s most requested needs.
Day camps are expected to launch in summer 2026 in partnership with the Troy and Winfield School Districts. Before and after school care is also planned for fall 2026, starting with the Winfield School District.
The effort has been years in the making.
“This was a five-year labor of love,” said Julie Rodgers, Executive Director of Lincoln County Economic Development. “It’s one of those things that brings community benefits to everyone and makes Lincoln County an even better place to live and work.”
The push began in 2025, when a group of local leaders, business owners, and residents formed a steering committee to explore bringing the YMCA to Lincoln County. A community survey showed strong demand — especially for childcare, summer camps, and youth programming.
That feedback is what led to this first phase now moving forward.
While many residents have long hoped for a full YMCA facility, that part of the plan is still in the early stages.
At this time, there is no set timeline, location, or confirmed funding plan for a permanent facility. Leaders say those decisions will require additional planning, community input, and fundraising before moving forward.
For now, the focus is on building a foundation through programs.
Even without a building in place yet, leaders say the impact could be significant — giving families more access to childcare, structured youth programs, and support services that have been in demand across the county.
What comes next will depend on community support and continued planning, but for the first time, YMCA services are no longer just an idea — they’re on the way.
