School Bus Catches Fire in Winfield; No Injuries Reported

Winfield, Mo — A school bus caught fire early this morning in Winfield, prompting a response from emergency crews but resulting in no reported injuries.


The incident occurred shortly after 6:00 AM in the 100 block of North Ethlyn Road.


Lincoln CountyWatch confirmed with the Winfield School District that the bus involved was one of theirs. Officials stated there were no children on board at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.


A mother whose child rides the bus said they were walking up to get on when the situation unfolded. She noticed a smell and saw smoke coming from the hood, prompting her to alert the driver.

The driver pulled over and exited the bus. Moments later, the bus became fully engulfed in flames.


Lincoln CountyWatch has reached out to the Winfield-Foley Fire Protection District for additional information but has not received a response at this time.


The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
