Officers were called Friday afternoon to a building in Troy after reports of people inside an uninhabited structure.
When police arrived, they found a door open and made contact with a female inside. She told officers she was there to visit Brewer and called out to him.
Inside, the building appeared to have been set up as a place to stay, with items arranged throughout. Officers searched the structure and eventually found Brewer standing behind what had been set up as a wall or barrier.
He was told to come out and initially complied, but officers say his behavior quickly changed.
Brewer appeared nervous and repeatedly tried moving toward the exit despite being told to stay put. During a safety sweep, officers located drug paraphernalia, suspected methamphetamine, and a rifle in a back room near where he had been.

As officers moved to detain him, Brewer suddenly took off toward the door.
He was quickly grabbed and taken to the ground, where officers say he continued to resist — kicking and refusing commands to put his hands behind his back.
A Taser was deployed, and Brewer was taken into custody.
The substance recovered later tested positive for methamphetamine. The firearm and drugs were collected as evidence.
Additional information shows Brewer is currently homeless and had been staying in uninhabited buildings.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
