TROY, MO — A Troy man is in custody after an animal abuse investigation that goes well beyond a single allegation, with authorities describing a case that includes video, text messages, witness statements, an admission that a dog was struck with a rock, and concerns about what they called repeated violent behavior toward dogs.

Dominic Charles Farace

Charges

  • Animal Abuse (Class A misdemeanor)

A warrant has been issued. Farace is being held on a $10,000 cash-only bond and remains in custody as of Tuesday, March 24.

The investigation centers on an incident from November 2025, where Farace admitted to striking a small dog with a large rock, hitting it multiple times. He acknowledged the blows and confirmed he heard the dog yelp.

But what elevated the case, according to authorities, was everything surrounding it.

Video and messages tied to the incident reportedly showed the dog was not acting aggressively, contradicting any claim of self-defense. In those same communications, Farace allegedly referenced the incident casually and, at one point, stated:

“F*** that dog!”

After learning of the situation, a witness canvassed the area trying to locate the injured dog and get it help, but was unable to find it. When confronted again later, Farace allegedly said he would do it again.

Authorities also noted concerns that this was not isolated, writing that the suspect has shown repeated violent behavior toward dogs, and that they fear it may continue. Investigators noted Farace has multiple dogs inside his home.

The case also includes a past allegation that significantly raised concern. A witness told authorities that when Farace was younger, he was caught engaging in sexual acts with family dogs. While no recent incidents of that nature were reported, the allegation was included as part of the broader pattern described in the case.

At this time, no court date has been posted.

A charge is merely an accusation. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
