‘I’d Go to Prison’: Kentucky Man Charged After Allegedly Traveling to Meet 14-Year-Old Decoy

TROY, Mo. — Gregory A. Huntley knew the girl he was talking to was supposed to be 14 years old. The messages show he knew getting caught could send him to prison. Police say he still spent days discussing sex with her, picked out a Troy hotel and then drove roughly four hours from Kentucky to meet her.
The girl did not exist. Huntley had been communicating with an online decoy.

The investigation reached Troy Police on Aug. 22, when officers learned Huntley was traveling from Owensboro to Troy to meet a person he believed was a 14-year-old girl for sex. The planned meeting location was Casey’s on Lincoln County Parkway.
Records show the conversations began several days earlier. The decoy disclosed that she was 14, and Huntley responded, “so I guess no hook up huh.”
But the conversation did not stop.
Huntley asked whether she was a virgin and began describing sexual acts he wanted to perform with her. The messages became increasingly explicit, including requests for sexual photographs and a sexually explicit image Huntley sent of himself.
At several points, the messages show Huntley understood both the girl’s stated age and the potential consequences.
“Cause if anyone found out I would get in major major trouble,” Huntley wrote.
Hours later, he told her, “I’d be the happiest alive if you let me be your first.”
The conversation eventually turned from messages to making plans.
Huntley discussed hotels around Troy and told the decoy he wanted one where the rooms could be accessed from outside rather than walking through a lobby. He sent her an image of the Super 8 in Troy and asked what she thought she would do when she first saw him.
When Huntley asked whether she was going to let him take her virginity, the decoy questioned what would happen if she told someone.
Huntley’s response was direct.
“You wouldn’t get in trouble I would, I’d go to prison.”
Despite acknowledging that possibility, police say Huntley continued with the plan and traveled approximately four hours from Kentucky to Troy.
He was taken into custody after arriving Aug. 22.
What officers reported finding inside his vehicle added another piece to the circumstances surrounding the planned meeting. During an inventory of the vehicle, police located a black bag containing adult sex toys on the rear floorboard. Marijuana was found in the center console, and officers seized the cellphone used to communicate with the decoy.
Huntley was charged the following day with enticement or attempted enticement of a child.
Judge Richardson ordered Huntley held without bond after finding that no combination of monetary and non-monetary conditions would secure the safety of the community or another person.
The warrant also notes the severity of a conviction for the charged offense, including restrictions on probation or parole and potential lifetime supervision under Missouri law.
Huntley’s case is filed in Lincoln County Circuit Court as 26L6-CR00587. His next hearing is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 27.
