Lincoln County, Mo. — Lincoln County Commissioners approved a new employee pay scale structure Thursday while also hearing updates from University of Missouri Extension staff and discussing ongoing frustrations with software issues inside the Collector’s Office during the May 14 commission meeting.
The meeting included reports from multiple University of Missouri Extension representatives covering agriculture, horticulture, nutrition, workforce development, and community outreach efforts taking place across Lincoln County and surrounding areas.
Extension representatives highlighted ongoing programs involving grazing schools, pasture management, gardening workshops, health and nutrition education, food pantry partnerships, and support programs for older adults focused on arthritis management and fall prevention.
Officials also discussed efforts tied to America’s upcoming 250th anniversary celebration, including opportunities to recognize historical farms and long-standing agricultural operations throughout Missouri.
During the meeting, commissioners approved a new county employee pay scale structure that organizes positions into multiple categories and levels, including support staff, technical, professional, and management classifications.
County officials said the updated structure is designed to better define advancement opportunities for employees while helping departments place workers within appropriate levels based on qualifications and responsibilities.
Discussion during the meeting indicated that most current employees already fall within the proposed ranges and that major pay adjustments are not expected immediately as departments finalize evaluations.
Commissioners unanimously approved the updated pay scale.
The meeting also included discussion from the Lincoln County Collector’s Office regarding ongoing issues with the county’s current Tyler Technologies tax software system.
Officials described repeated problems with the tax sale module and stated some issues have remained unresolved for several months despite attempts to work with the company’s support system.
Collector’s Office staff said they are now reviewing alternative software vendors, including Missouri-based company MoTax Flow, which officials said has received positive feedback from other counties.
As part of the evaluation process, county representatives plan to attend a software seminar and visit Camden County to review how the system operates in another Missouri county.
Officials additionally discussed the upcoming Lincoln County tax sale scheduled for Aug. 24, noting the number of properties remaining on the list has significantly decreased in recent weeks.
The meeting concluded with approval of surplus tax sale fund disbursements and routine county business.
