TROY, Mo. — A late-night domestic assault investigation at the Troy Inn led to a heavy police presence and a brief multi-agency search Wednesday night, drawing attention from nearby residents as officers worked to locate a suspect who fled during the initial response.

Lincoln CountyWatch first reported police activity in the area of the Troy Inn on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at approximately 10:55 p.m. Officers were observed using spotlights and canvassing the area as part of an active response. Traffic and access in the immediate vicinity were intermittently affected while law enforcement worked the scene.

  • Assault — 4th Degree (misdemeanor)

The Troy Police Department later confirmed officers had responded to a reported domestic assault on the second floor of the hotel. In a statement provided to Lincoln CountyWatch, Troy Police said the incident was isolated and that “there is no threat to public safety.”

Police stated the victim sustained facial injuries and was assisted by the property owner and nearby tenants after calling for help. Officers reported the suspect fled the room by jumping from a window, prompting a short search involving multiple agencies before he was located in the parking lot of Bomgaars and taken into custody.

Investigators documented injuries consistent with a physical altercation, including head trauma and bleeding. Witnesses inside the building reported hearing yelling and calls for help, which led to intervention by hotel staff and nearby occupants. During the incident, another individual who attempted to intervene was struck while trying to detain the suspect as he fled.

Authorities confirmed the victim was treated for injuries and that the incident involved a domestic relationship. Due to the nature of the case, no identifying information about the victims has been released.

Court records show an arrest warrant was issued following the investigation. As background, the records reflect prior domestic-related convictions involving the suspect, though authorities emphasized the current charges stem from this incident alone and will proceed through the court system.

No additional public safety concerns were reported following the arrest.
