Troy, Mo. — A police pursuit that began in Wright City and crossed multiple jurisdictions ended along Highway 47 in Lincoln County with a barricaded vehicle, a large law-enforcement response, and a temporary security alert at Troy R-III schools — before both occupants surrendered and were taken into custody.
According to the Wright City Police Department, officers received an anonymous complaint Friday about a male subject driving a vehicle without permission near the eastbound Interstate 70 rest area. Police said when officers attempted to make contact, the vehicle sped away and officers attempted to stop it, prompting the pursuit.
Wright City Police said the vehicle exited I-70 in Wright City and headed west on the north service road, with the pursuit continuing through city streets and county roads across Warren County and into Lincoln County. During the pursuit, Wright City Police said the passenger contacted 911 and was attempting to convince the driver to stop, while the driver made statements indicating he would either drive the vehicle into a tree or be involved in an officer-involved shooting.

Wright City Police said as the vehicle approached the intersection of Highway U and Highway J, the Missouri State Highway Patrol deployed spike strips. The vehicle continued into Troy on Highway J and onto Main Street, where police said the vehicle had already lost both front tires. Wright City Police said the vehicle then turned onto Highway 47, and MSHP performed an advanced maneuver that brought the vehicle to rest off the roadway north of Highway 47 near Aubuchon Road.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office confirmed there was law-enforcement activity in the area related to a pursuit and that there was no direct association to the school at the time. The Sheriff’s Office later advised the public to avoid the area near Highway 47 and Aubuchon Road as the situation developed into a barricaded vehicle incident.
Per the Lincoln County R-III School District, schools were placed on a security alert out of an abundance of caution due to the police chase coming from the Wright City area. The district said the alert included locking classroom doors, limiting movement to within buildings, increasing supervision, and continuing regular classroom activities. The district later confirmed the security alert was lifted and noted that some bus routes could be delayed as routes worked to avoid the Highway 47 barricade.
Authorities brought in a negotiator and a tactical vehicle (BearCat) during the standoff. The Sheriff’s Office confirmed one Lincoln County deputy suffered a minor hand injury while deploying spike strips. The incident ended when the subjects surrendered and were taken into custody — one male and one female.
The Wright City Police Department said the Missouri State Highway Patrol will be investigating the crash and Wright City Police will forward their investigation to the Warren County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office once completed.
