Silex, Mo — A reported physical altercation between two Silex aldermen occurred yesterday, April 7, after an encounter on a gravel road escalated into a confrontation. Details remain limited, and both individuals involved describe the situation differently.
Both individuals confirm that an incident occurred involving a vehicle and a tractor on a gravel road. Law enforcement was contacted following the incident.
Holcomb stated he declined to pursue charges. Rice stated he was advised by authorities to return home. No charges have been filed as of this time.

According to a statement provided by David Rice, he was driving home when he encountered Holcomb operating a tractor. Rice alleges the tractor was swerved toward his vehicle and that a gesture was made, prompting him to stop and exit his vehicle to address the situation.
Rice states that after exiting his vehicle, Holcomb got off the tractor and struck him in the face, knocking him to the ground. He says he struggled to get back up, returned to his vehicle, and called out for help.
Rice denied that he had been speeding and stated that even if he had been, it would not justify being struck. He also said he has multiple medical conditions and later documented the location of the incident with photographs.

Holcomb describes a different version of events.
He stated he was operating a tractor on a gravel road when Rice passed him at what he described as a high rate of speed, kicking up dust and debris that struck him. He said he then pulled over and exited the tractor.
According to Holcomb, Rice stopped his vehicle in a way that blocked the roadway and exited. Holcomb says he told Rice to slow down and leave the area.
Holcomb alleges Rice continued approaching him in what he described as an aggressive manner and closed the distance between them. He states he struck Rice one time in response, describing his actions as self-defense while on his property. Holcomb maintains he remained on his property during the incident.
