TROY, Mo. — A Troy man was taken into custody Monday following a reported domestic assault at a residence in Lincoln County that left an adult female victim injured and seeking help.
David Richard Geringer

Charges
Domestic Assault — 2nd Degree (Felony)
Domestic Assault — 4th Degree (Misdemeanor)
Geringer is currently being held at the Lincoln County Jail on a $15,000 cash-only bond. His initial court appearance is scheduled for Thursday, February 5 at 9:30 a.m. in Associate Division III.
Law enforcement responded Monday, February 2, to a residence in Troy for a reported physical domestic disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with an adult female victim who was visibly upset and crying. Officers observed a red mark on the left side of her face near her eye, consistent with a recent physical injury.
The confrontation escalated inside the residence as the victim attempted to get away from Geringer and create distance. As she moved through the home trying to separate herself from him, Geringer allegedly followed, continued the confrontation, and prevented her from leaving the immediate area.
During the incident, Geringer allegedly took the victim’s phone while she was attempting to communicate with someone outside the home and threw it, cutting off her ability to continue the call or seek help.
Geringer allegedly struck the victim in the face with an open hand. When she attempted to retreat to another area of the residence, he followed and shoved her with enough force to knock her to the ground.
The victim curled into a defensive position while on the ground as the assault continued. Additional injuries were documented, and officers noted signs consistent with a forceful and sustained physical encounter.
The victim was ultimately able to secure herself inside a bathroom and contact 911. Geringer left the residence prior to officers taking him into custody.
Geringer is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
