Lincoln County drivers are voicing concerns about road conditions and traffic safety across the county, with several highways and intersections consistently mentioned as problem areas.
Over the past several days, Lincoln County Watch has received numerous submissions from residents responding to a request for feedback on roads they believe are in poor condition or present safety concerns. Submissions included written responses and photos shared by community members.
Among the most frequently mentioned locations was the intersection of Highway 47 and W, which residents identified as a significant concern. While reasons varied, feedback generally pointed to issues related to traffic flow, turning movements, visibility, and overall intersection safety. Lincoln County Watch is continuing to gather more detailed input to better understand which specific factors are contributing to concerns at that location.
Highway 79 was also commonly cited, with many residents raising safety-related concerns. Submissions referenced traffic speed, volume, and visibility challenges along certain stretches of the highway, particularly during peak travel times or adverse weather conditions.
In contrast, feedback regarding Highway 47 focused primarily on road conditions rather than traffic behavior. Residents described rough pavement, wear, and overall deterioration along multiple portions of the highway throughout Lincoln County.

Several additional intersections were mentioned repeatedly by residents, including Highway 61 & B/E, Highway 47 & Ridge, and Highway 47 & Gravens. Concerns at these locations ranged from traffic flow and visibility to roadway layout and turning safety.
Feedback submitted to Lincoln County Watch generally falls into two categories: road condition concerns, such as pavement quality and maintenance, and traffic safety concerns, including visibility, speed, and intersection design. Distinguishing between these types of concerns is important, as they often fall under different jurisdictions and require different solutions.
It’s important to note that the information gathered reflects resident-reported concerns and has not yet been reviewed or verified by MoDOT, county officials, or local agencies. Lincoln County Watch does not determine roadway priorities, funding, or repair timelines. Our role is to collect, organize, and accurately present community feedback so agencies are aware of resident concerns and can respond accordingly.
Road maintenance and traffic safety concerns in Lincoln County may fall under different jurisdictions depending on the roadway. State highways are generally overseen by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), while county-maintained roads fall under the Lincoln County Highway Department. City streets are typically handled by individual municipalities.
