Winfield, Mo. — A Peoria, Illinois man is facing multiple felony charges after deputies say he led law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit through Lincoln County in a vehicle reported stolen.

Authorities say the incident began in the early morning hours of March 1, when deputies responded to a reported vehicle theft at a business in Winfield.

Corrail Jackson

Charges:

• Tampering with a Motor Vehicle – 1st Degree

• Aggravated Fleeing a Stop or Detention

• Possession of Stolen Property

• Possession of Stolen Property – Animal

• Careless and Imprudent Driving

A warrant has been issued with a $75,000 cash-only bond and a condition of no contact with the victim. Jackson remains in custody.

According to authorities, deputies located a red Chrysler 300 matching the stolen vehicle description at a nearby gas station. When a deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, investigators say the driver accelerated away instead of yielding.

What followed was a pursuit southbound on Highway 79, with speeds reportedly reaching between 90 and 100 miles per hour.

Deputies say the vehicle crossed into oncoming lanes at times, forcing other drivers to take evasive action. The pursuit continued through multiple roadways before spike strips were successfully deployed.

Authorities say the vehicle eventually came to a stop near Salt Lick Road, where Jackson and another individual were taken into custody.

Investigators later confirmed the Chrysler had been reported stolen out of Riverton, Illinois. Law enforcement also recovered additional stolen property from the vehicle.

Jackson is scheduled to appear for an initial hearing at 1:35 p.m. on March 3, 2026, in Associate Division III of the Lincoln County Circuit Court.

A charge is merely an accusation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
