ELSBERRY, Mo. — An Elsberry woman is facing a felony burglary charge after investigators say stolen property taken during a series of city burglaries was later sold to a jewelry business for thousands of dollars.
Authorities allege the items were sold for a mix of cash and check payments totaling more than $4,000.

According to the allegations, detectives with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the Elsberry Police Department interviewed Duncan in connection with a string of burglaries that occurred within Elsberry city limits.
During that interview, investigators say Duncan admitted that she and her boyfriend took items from residences and later sold them to a jewelry store identified as Scotsman’s Coin and Jewelry.
Investigators allege Duncan received approximately $3,000 in cash and $1,000 in check form for the property.
As part of the follow-up investigation, officers contacted the jewelry business in Creve Coeur, where staff advised that all sales and purchases are logged through an online tracking system. Records allegedly showed multiple transactions tied to Duncan.
Receipts provided to investigators reportedly document $3,000 in cash and $1,015 in check payments made to Duncan. The business also provided photographs of property sold and a copy of a Missouri driver’s license used during the transactions.
Court records further indicate Duncan has an outstanding warrant out of Hazelwood, Missouri, for failing to register a vehicle.
A warrant was issued charging Duncan with Burglary in the Second Degree.
A charge is merely an accusation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
